Photographs are so important to have, I go to my grandpa’s and he has well over 50 albums, I can see every year of my life in those albums, this is something I treasure. Every time I go there, I always go upstairs and pull one of the big albums out and scan through the pages. That being said, I am the worst at documenting my own kids.
What’s that saying, the Cobblers kids, have no shoes, this totally applies to me. I feel like being a photographer is both a blessing, because I can get those shots, but I don’t always. Either they aren’t wearing the right outfits, the light isn’t right, or something else. I have to learn to be less worried about capturing what they are wearing, and more of what they are doing.
I’ve been in my house 3 years now, and my photos were just put about about 8 months ago, maybe a year. I have files upon files of on hard drives, and folders on my computer, all with the same names, “My Kids” or “Ellie” or “Xmas with my kids” but nothing in prints. If I ever lost my hard drives or my backups, I am not sure what I would do! There are so many places where you can get photos printed, print your photos, and I will print mine! Make albums for your kids, they will love to look back on them. I know it seems so old fashioned, but I think it’s the best opening up the albums, the pages crinkling, sticking together.
